What is the GMC Terrain Maintenance Schedule?

Although your GMC Terrain is a hardy vehicle to start with, it still needs proper care and maintenance to perform at its best. The GMC Terrain, like other vehicles, requires periodic service during its lifetime to stay in top shape. For the Terrain, service usually starts at about 15,000 miles. However, the precise GMC Terrain service intervals may vary depending on the trim level and model year of the Terrain that you drive. Therefore, we recommend consulting your owner's manual for your exact GMC Terrain maintenance schedule.

15,000-Mile Service

Generally, GMC Terrain service intervals begin at 15,000 miles. Your Terrain may also have at least one oil change before this time, and a mechanic may also check the tires before the first official service interval. Even so, both services will be performed again at 15,000 miles, as they are both essential to keeping your car safe and sound on the road. The tires will be rotated at this time as well, and your vehicle may get a new engine fuel filter for premium engine performance.

30,000-Mile Service

When your GMC Terrain reaches 30,000 miles, it will need a more comprehensive inspection. Your Terrain will once again have a complete oil change at this mileage point, and it will have another fuel filter installed. The dirt and pollen filter will also be changed to ensure fresh air keeps circulating. The transfer case fluid will be changed as well, along with the transmission fluid if your GMC uses an automatic transmission. A certified mechanic will also look at the brake fluid on the car and replace it if necessary. The brake fluid may also be replaced at five-year intervals.

60,000-Mile Service

When your Terrain reaches 60,000 miles, it will have the engine oil replaced yet again. The car may also get a second engine filter. The cabin will also get a fresh air filter to ensure clean air circulates through the interior. The spark plugs and associated wiring may also be changed when the car reaches 60,000 miles. Your GMC Terrain will have its brakes and associated braking components inspected, and the engine coolant gets drained and refilled. The evaporative control system will get inspected as well, and the engine drive belts are examined for signs of fraying or wear and tear with age.

90,000-Mile Service

At 90,000 miles, your Terrain will have all the essential fluids flushed and replaced, including engine and transmission. The car gets an oil change as well. The suspension system is checked, and you may get new tires.
