BUICK, GMC VEHICLE SERVICE WARNING INDICATORS

If you own a car, then you've probably asked yourself the question, "Uh-oh, what does that light mean?" When it comes to cars, it can be challenging to know all of the ins and outs of the vehicle and its maintenance, especially the little lights and symbols that you see on the dashboard. But, to maintain your car in good, working condition, you must know what these lights and symbols mean.

To help you better understand your vehicle, we've come up with a list of ten of the more common warning indicators that you might see on your dashboard and what they mean.

Airbag Fault

AIRBAG FAULT

The Airbag Fault light indicates that there is an issue with one of the airbags or the comprehensive airbag system of your vehicle. Seek expert help to diagnose and repair the specific problem.

Check the levels of oil in the engine and refill if necessary. Consult a qualified expert if the light remains on after correcting oil levels.

Service Vehicle Soon

SERVICE VEHICLE SOON

The Service Vehicle Soon light indicates one of two things. First, it could indicate that your vehicle is due for maintenance after having been driven a preset number of miles. Or it could indicate that the BCM, or body control module, has detected an issue with a non-engine system, such as the traction control system or the lighting system. Run maintenance if needed or contact a qualified professional to diagnose the problem.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

TPMS (TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM)

The TPMS warning light indicates either that one of the vehicle's tires has low pressure or that there may be a problem with the TPMS system itself. Check the pressure of every tire and adjust until all tires have the correct pressure. If the light remains on, there might be a problem with the TPMS system. Consult a professional to determine the problem.

Slip Indicator

The slip indicator illuminates when your vehicle's traction control is in use and activated. This light typically indicates slippery conditions. However, if the slip indicator stays lit, service is required.

Charging System Warning Light

If this warning light is on while you are driving or idling, it means that your vehicle's charging system is not functioning correctly. This could cause your car to stop abruptly. If you see this light, turn the vehicle's engine off immediately. Consult a professional to determine and repair the problem accurately.

Brake System

BRAKE SYSTEM

This warning light indicates an issue with the anti-lock brake system of your vehicle. While this light is on, the ABS function may be disabled. There are multiple reasons this light will turn on. Have a professional look over the system to determine the problem.
