Specs at a Glance
When it comes to practical and utilitarian commercial vehicles, the GMC Savana is the first name that comes to mind. The Savana's versatile design makes it a fine choice for industrial work, but it can also serve as a passenger transport vehicle, depending on the layout you choose. The GMC Savana is available in multiple trim levels. The base model, called the 2500, has everything you need for transporting people or cargo, while the 3500, the next trim in the lineup, adds a few more safety features and some aesthetic upgrades.
Performance
Both the 2500 and 3500 are equipped with the same mechanical configuration. Two mechanical configurations are offered to meet your needs. You can stick with the standard 4.3L V6 engine that produces up to 276 horsepower, or upgrade to a stronger V8 with up to 401 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard with either engine, and rear-wheel drive is the standard drivetrain on both the 2500 and the 3500.
Appearance
The GMC Savana 2500 and 3500 share a similar design, but the 3500 offers a higher-quality cabin and a few distinguishing exterior accents.
The 2500 and 3500 both have 16-inch steel wheels. If you get the passenger van, both passenger-side doors swing out. Molded assist steps are standard on both. The 3500 is also accentuated with chrome center caps, and painted white wheels are available. A chrome grille is standard on the 3500 and available on the 2500. Tinted glass is standard on both, while the 3500 has a standard chrome appearance package that is available on the 2500.
Features
Inside, the passenger van styles of the 2500 and 3500 both have a seating capacity of 12. The cargo van version of the 2500 and 3500 has two seats. Both the 2500 and 3500 have interior lighting and a cloth headliner. The 3500 also has carpeted floors and a standard 120V power outlet. Air conditioning is standard with both, and the 3500 also has cloth bucket seats in front. Forward Collision Alert is standard on the 3500 and available with the 2500. The 3500 also includes Lane Departure Warning, an available safety upgrade on the Savana 2500. For technology, a Driver Information Center is standard on the 3500 and available as an upgrade on the 2500.
