Specs at a Glance

While some automakers make substantial changes from one year to the next, Buick keeps the status quo. In 2020, the automaker made only minor alterations to the Regal, which is one of its most popular vehicles. As many consumers would agree, it doesn't need many updates to stay competitive. Nevertheless, Buick gives the Regal some new paint colors this year. There are also some adjustments to the equipment available, and there is a change to feature availability based on trim level. These changes carry over across all trim levels of the Regal. For the 2020 model year, the LaCrosse, contrarily, gets a total exterior makeover. From a new front grille to new badge designs, there are many novel features to enjoy in this popular luxury vehicle.

Performance

In 2020, the changes that Buick made to the Regal are mostly aesthetic. The car keeps the same performance and handling credentials as before. There are still two engines in the Regal. The standard engine has a 2.0L capacity and four cylinders. It has a nine-speed automatic transmission. The base engine can produce 250 HP of power up to 5,400 RPM and up to 351 LB-FT of torque at 5,200 RPM. The other engine, which is standard on the LGX trim, features a power capacity of 310 HP at 6,800 RPM and torque capacity of 282 LB-FT at 5,200 RPM. Buick makes the LaCrosse with two engines. The first is a 2.0L that produces 237 HP and 258 LB-FT of torque. The second, which is new to the lineup this year, is a 1.3L turbo engine that creates 160 HP. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard.

Appearance

The Regal is available in seven exterior colors. Depending on the model you choose, you can get either 17-inch or 18-inch standard wheels. Fog lights and halogen lights are standard to improve visibility in poor conditions. The glass is both acoustic-dampening and solar-absorbing to create a quiet and comfortable ride. The LaCrosse features an eye-catching oversize grille encased by a stunning new fascia. Diamond knitting and a chrome divider enhance the vehicle's front end. In back, the LaCrosse gets a restyled bumper and narrowed tail lights for a modern appearance. Dual chrome exhaust outlets are also standard.

Features

Dual-zone AC is standard on most trim levels of the Regal. A premium Bose sound system is either standard or available. The front seats are heated in most trims, and keyless entry is standard. All trims have a 4G WiFi connection and a backup camera. Depending on the trim, either a seven-inch or eight-inch touchscreen is standard, as are USB charging ports. The 2020 LaCrosse also has many enviable amenities. These include HID headlights with LED accents, a custom infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, and heated front seats on the higher trims.
