Specs at a Glance
GMC's Sierra 1500 sits on a concise list of legendary light-duty pickup trucks. Few trucks are in its class compared to its big-time styling and performance. Our dealership has a fleet of 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 trucks rolling in, and the Pro and SLT trims are well worth comparing before you head out to test drive the Sierra 1500.
Performance
There is an important difference in the performance of these two trims. PRO truck trims are more affordable and come with a TurboMax engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. SLT trims have a standard 5.3L V8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. This translates to 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque for a Pro trim; SLT trims deliver 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. And with two different transmissions, you can also find different acceleration and transitions from the SLT.
Appearance
While performance is night and day, you'll find some similarities between the Sierra 1500 Pro and SLT in terms of appearance. Pro trims come with standard 17" painted silver wheels, while SLT trims get standard 18" 6-spoke machined aluminum wheels with Dark Grey metallic accents. The SLT includes optional features like 6" chrome full-length assist steps, an illuminated red GMC emblem, and Max trailering packages. If the GMC MultiPro tailgate is a must-have for your truck, the SLT is the only one offering this standard feature. Pro trims only get this feature as an option.
Features
The Pro and SLT Sierra 1500 offer nicely decorated interior upholstery and accents. Each comes with under-seat storage, an HD rear vision camera, and Wi-Fi connection. However, the Pro model sports standard vinyl seating and the SLT gets perforated leather-appointed front outboard seats. There are a few other features you'll only find standard on the SLT, including steering-wheel-mounted controls, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. If you prefer a more tech-savvy and upscale interior, the SLT fits the bill. The Pro is an excellent trim for those who prefer a more traditional pickup truck that just hits the high notes and leaves out all the fancy stuff.
