Technology-wise, the new Canyon is well-equipped with all the latest gadgets. They include Apple CarPlay, various USB ports, Wi-Fi and much more. There's also heated and cooled front seats and a stitched dashtop.

For the current model year, the new Canyon gets two additional trims: Denali and All Terrain X. The Denali sports a chrome grille, 20-inch wheels, leather-appointed seating and leather-upholstered steering. It also adds an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation and much more. The All Terrain X model gets a plethora of off-road essentials like all-weather mats, side steps, hill-descent control, off-road tires, 17-inch wheels and an off-road suspension.


The new Canyon can be had with an optional 3.6-liter V6, which has been praised by various 2017 GMC Canyon reviews. The six-cylinder engine is capable of making 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, making it a little more powerful than last year's V6. As standard, the truck gets a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder that generates 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. DFW truck shoppers will also be pleased with the Canyon's towing capacity, which maxes out at 7,000 pounds. Two-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive can be had for an additional price.


To make your drives even safer, GM's subscription-based OnStar technology is offered on every 2017 GMC Canyon in the Dallas area. It provides various services including automatic emergency crash notification, remote door locking/unlocking, stolen vehicle assistance and 24/7 roadside assistance. Standard, the vehicle gets trailer sway control, front seat side impact airbags and a rearview camera.
