Cars.com Names GMC Canyon Best Midsize Truck of 2016

Cars.com and PickupTruck.com's 2016 Midsize Truck Challenge was a heated battle in which five well-known trucks were put through a week-long test. All competitors were driven on a 165-mile fuel-economy drive, as well as an off-road course and a test track where braking and acceleration were assessed.

The trucks evaluated in this year's challenge included:

2016 GMC Canyon SLE

2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E

2016 Chevy Colorado Z71

2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road

2016 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X

After assessing all trucks in 18 categories, judges named the 2016 GMC Canyon their challenge winner. The elite honor can be attributed to aspects like the Canyon's well-appointed interior, excellent on- and off-road performance, and muscular towing ability, which are just a few of the positive attributes pointed out by Cars.com Editor-in-Chief, Patrick Olsen.

“Establishing a benchmark for a premium midsize pickup was our goal with the Canyon, and PickupTruck.com’s insights affirm our instincts,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “The Canyon’s quiet cabin, premium design and materials make it a maneuverable solution for customers who want the capability of a pickup with the modern amenities customers expect from GMC.”
